EARLY LIFE

  • Charles John Huffam Dickens was born on February 7, 1812
  • In 1816, Charles and his family moved to Chatham, Kent
  • In 1822, the Dickens family moved to a poor neighborhood in London called Camden Town
  • When Charles was 12 years old his father was sent to prison for dept.
  • Since the imprisonment, Charles was taken out of school to work in a factory, with low pay

EARLY LIFE CONT.

  • Soon Charlies was able to go back to school
  • At age 15, he had to drop out of school again to work
  • He worked as a writer for the London newspaper, which was a starting point of his career

PERSONAL LIFE

  • Charles got married to Catherine Hogarth and had 10 children before they separated
  • Charles got married to a woman named Kate.

WRITING

  • Charles' first publishing was "Sketches By Boz"
  • Started publishing "The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club"
  • Charles' also published hIs first novel, Oliver Twist.

WRITING CONT.

  • Charles' also wrote 2 christmas stories
  • One of the christmas stories he wrote was "A Christmas Carol"

DEATH

  • Charles was in a train accident in 1865
  • He never fully recovered from the accident
  • June 9, 1870, Charles died of stroke
  • His book "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" was left unfinished
