French Protestant church

  • In 1687, French Huguenots fleeing from France's religious persecution.  
  • The building is the fourth church at the site.
  • This building was made between 1844-1845

Washington Park

  • Formerly know as City Hall Park, then changed to honor George Washington
  • Opened to the public in 1891  
  • There once was a statue in the park but was damaged due to a tree branch
  • The monument was place in 1999 and cost $165,000

boone hall plantation

  • The plantation was built in 1681, by Major John Boone
  • All nine of the original slave cabins date back to 1790
  • The Front lawn is 16 acres large

  • Built in 1840
  • Based off a greek architectul design
  • Multiple items sold in the market including baskets
  • The market sold meats, fruits and vegtables in the 1800's

John C. Calhoun

  • He was born on March 18 of 1782
  • He died on March 31, 1850
  • John C Calhoun was  American politician during the first half of the 19th century
  • His grave was moved to protect his body from people who didn't like him

US CUSTOMS HOUSE

  • The US Customs House was built in 1853
  •  but was interrupted in 1859 due to costs of South Carolina's secession from the Union
  • The building is right across the street from the Market

  • We saw many birds and horses 
  • Along with multiple gnats 
  • We took this picture at Boone hall as a hawk is having lunch
