BOONE HALL

  • Up to 15 slaves per quarter
  • Not many got to be in the brick quarters
  • Finger prints of the slaves can be seen in the bricks

COBBLESTONE ROAD

  • The rocks used to make the road are from ships
  • The rocks were used to weigh them down after the objects were unloaded
  • The rocks were thrown into the roads, and it's now a cobblestone road!

THE ECONOMY

  • The economy was fueled by slavery
  • Cash crops were traded in Charleston at the sea port

THE CIVIL WAR TO CHARLESTON

  • The First shots were fired
  • The attack on Fort Moultrie could be seen from the land
  • Many spectators watched the battle

ANIMALS

  • White tailed deer, alligators, birds, etc.
  • These are just a few of the animals and reptiles of Charleston
  • Fishing is a very popular form of entertainment

GULLAH

  • The Gullah community is of the descendants of slaves
  • They have their own dialect
  • They added spice and flavor into the dull foods they ate
  • Enjoyed making baskets from long Reids and grass

RAINBOW ROW

  • A street of brightly painted pastel houses
  • One of the most famous streets of Charleston
