APRIL 14,1865

  • Lincoln was just coming off stress because the Civil War ended.
  • Lincoln invited Clara haris and major rathbone to stay in the suiet with them at the show.
  • Booth had a plan to kill Lincoln during the comedy show while everyone was laughing.
  • Booth planned a meeting talking about the assassin of Lincoln , Seward, and Johnson.

APRIL 15

  • Lincoln died at 7:22am
  • Booth was in grave danger after the fact that Lincoln died
  • It was fifteen hours since the attack at Fords theater
  • " A detective said, John Wilkes Booth has shot the President and John Surratt has assassinated the Secretary of State."
  • Booth got a broken leg by horse mount

APRIL 21

  • Booth and Herold got to Maryland once they crossed the bridge.
  • Booth and Herold stopped at a friend of Herold who was a detective to get some food from him.
  • Booth and Herold then grabbed there blankets and weapons.
  • Booth and and Herold spent an extra night in Maryland until the following evening when darkness came.

APRIL 22/23

  • Booth and Herold got on the boat and rowed towards Virginia .
  • It took several hours to spot there destination.
  • It was nine days after the assassination.
  • An ex confederate spy taught Elizabeth Quesenberry how to be suspicious of strangers who like Herold.
  • Mrs. Quesenberry arranged horses for Booth an Harold to get moving down South as quickly as possible.

APRIL 24

  • Booth spun a believable tale for the Garretts.
  • Most of the investigation and manhunt were focused on Southern Maryland.
  • Once Booth and Herold got to the Garrett's farm they begged Robert if they can both stay on the property over night. John Garrett said yes and they stayed in the barn.
  • Lafayette Baker had been in Washington since April 16
  • " I think Booth had crossed the river and I want you to go ride out," said Lafayette Baker.

APRIL 25

  • Colonial Lafayette C. Baker and aids are depicted taking charges of the search for Booth
  • John Wilkes Booth enjoyed a leisurely supper with the Garrett's .

APRIL 26

  • It would be the twelfth day of the journey for John Wilkes Booth and David Harold.
  • While Booth and Harold were at the farm John and William Garret were at the corn house listening to suspicious during the night.
  • The Garrett's imprisoned them and they locked the cabin so Booth and Harold couldn't get out so they would bee trapped.
  • The union guard came over to the cabin to guard them in so they can't get out.
  • When Herold surrendered booth said, "Kill me, Kill me."

APRIL 26

  • The barn caught on fire while Booth was in there and he said that he would rather die.
  • The Boston Corbett grabbed his weapon and shot Booth, the bullet went through his neck and was paralyzed.
  • "Tell mother I died for my country" said Booth
  • John Wilkes Booth is dead on April 26th twelve days after the assassination and his last words was '' Useless, useless".
  • John Wilkes Booth was buried at the Old Arsenal Penitentiry.
