MCKENNA BRANNEN AND SARAH GOEBEL

EXECUTIVE BRANCH

The Executive Branch is lead by the President and the Vice President. Their main job is to carry out the laws passed by Congress.

THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH

The Legislative Branch makes the nation's laws. They also pass laws that impose taxes, authorize the spending of money, and create government programs. They also have the job of declaring war.

JUDICIAL BRANCH

The Judicial Branch's main duties are to hear and rule on cases they choose from among the thousands that are presented to them each year. They listen to arguments, and then they must present and explain their decisions- called the courts opinions.

The legislative branch keeps the executive branch from getting too powerful is they can impeach the president, they can override veto, can reject appointments if they don't want to have it, and can refuse to approve treaties.

The Legislative Branch keeps the Judicial Branch from getting to powerful is by being able to impeach judges and can reject appointments of judges.

The Executive Branch keeps the Legislative Branch from getting to powerful is that they can veto legislation.
