Synthesis: Combining many things to make something new.

An example would be combining many mediums and colors to create a work of art, or Hydrogen and Oxygen to create water, which is ionic.

Decomposition: a compound breaks down into 2 or more new compounds or elements.

An example of this type of reaction is food digesting, or water breaking apart to make one hydrogen, and one oxygen. Water is an ionic bond.

Single Displacement: when one element is replaced by another element in a compound.

An example is:
Zn+CuCl(2)➡ZnCl(2)+Cu
The zinc is being replaced by the copper, and this compound is covalent.

Double Displacement: two compounds react, and the pos. and neg. ions switch places.

An example of this is:
NaCl+KBr➡️NaBr+KCl
which is covalent.

Combustion: when a compound and an antioxidant are reacted with each other to create an exothermic product.

An example of combustion is what happens when you strike a match, or
2H(2)+O(2)➡️2H(2)O+heat
This example is ionic.
