Children were cheaper to employ
Children were complient
They would work for extremely long shifts
Many children would be killed or injured on the job
The youngest children would become assistants snd were often beaten

Severe punishments would occure for being late
Children were small and could fit in the tight spaces that adults could not
Child Labor limitations began being made in 1833
1833 the Factory Act was passed by Parliament
Now, children ages 9-13 were only allowed to work 8 hours a day

Children ages 14 to 18 could only work up to 12 hours a day
Children under the age of 9 were not allowed to work at all
Also, children were required to attend school for atleast 2 hours a day
At this point education was slowly becoming important
Most children working in factories would lose their limbs

Men often had to compete with for their jobs
In rural areas, families worked together all day long
When Factories came about, families would often be broken up
Many young women would get there hair caught in the machines and be scalped or die
Children working in mines would often have to push coal carts through tiny tunnels
