MUSCULAR SYSTEM

A CHILDRENS BOOK

In the muscular system there is three kinds of muscles.
There is cardiac, smooth, and skeletal.

The cardiac muscle is located in the heart. This muscle is involuntary, reacts quick, but does not tire quickly.

Smooth muscle is located in the stomach. It is involuntary, reacts slowly, and does not tire quickly.

Skeletal muscle is located in your arms and legs. It is voluntary, it reacts quickly, and tires quickly.

Smooth muscles a controlled by the autonomic nervous system. this system also controls the heart.

Skeletal muscle is controlled by the somatic nervous system. Both systems are branches of the peripheral nervous system.

Every muscle can move by contracting. Contracting is when the muscle shortens to move a body part.

Every muscle can also move by relaxing. When a muscle relaxes the body part moves back to its normal position.
