  • Being such a long country over a variety of landscapes chile has
  • A lot of different types of food and drinks
  • One of the highlights of Chilean food is its diversity of seafood due to its long coastline

  • In chile they have a high quality of red wine some of the wine will go for 800$!
  • Chilean food is also is not spicy like food in Mexico
  • The hot chili is not used to much in Chilean food

  • Almejas con Limón - raw clams with lemon juice.
  • Pastel de Jaiba - Chilean Crab Pie served in its own shell.
  • Papaya con Crema - preserved papaya with whipped cream.
  • All of these foods are served year round

  • Soccer is the most popular sport in chile.
  • In 1962 they hosted the FIFA World Cup and won third place
  • They have never won the copa America cup, although they have
  • Been the forth most times
  • Carlos Alfredo Labrin was born in 2nd December, 1990 in Mulchén, Chile, he is the best player in chile

  • Basketball is also a popular sport in chile
  • It is mostly played in the southern part of chile
  • They have only won a bronze medal in the FIBA world championship
  • Ziomar Morrison is one of the best basketball players in chile she is currently playing in the WNBA

  • Chile has never been to a rugby work cup but they are ranked 24th making them the third best in Latin America

  • The current peso has been around sense 1975
  • The previous version was around 1817 and lasted till 1960

  • The first Chilean paper money was introduced around 1840 to 1844
  • Between 1817 and 1851 silver coins were issued

  • About 63% of chile is Roman Catholic
  • 15% of the Chileans are Protestant or Evangelical
  • Agnostics and atheist were estimated at 18%
  • 4% declared to have another religion.

  • Traditionally, the Roman Catholic Church has held a privileged status in the country.
  • There were also reports of discrimination against non-Catholics in military employment
  • In march 2000 a new law was adopted allowing non catholic churches more rights

  • Catholicism was brought in by Spanish priests during the 16th century
  • The number of Catholics are declining there has been a decrease sense the 1970s by about 30%.

  • The Republic of Chile is an overwhelmingly Spanish-speaking country
  • with the exceptions of isolated native and immigrant communities
  • According to Ethnologue, Chile has nine living languages and seven extinct.

  • Of the 16 million Chileans, some 14 million speak Chilean Spanish as their first language.
  • It is a Spanish dialect which is sometimes difficult for speakers of the Castilian variant of Spanish to understand
  • It is very similar to Andalusian Spanish in pronunciation but it does have a lot of local slang.

  • There are some 700,000 Mapuche living in Chile, of whom 200,000 speak Mapudungun.
  • Rapa Nui, the Polynesian language of Easter Island, is spoken by some 3,400 Chileans
  • Some indigenous languages of Chile now extinct are Diaguita, Kakauhua, Kunza and Selknam
