China's Geography

  • China’s geography is very extensive. It takes up ⅕ of the continent of Asia. The population of Asia is about 1.3 million people and the whole country takes up ⅕ of the world’s population. The rivers in China were the Yellow River and the Yangzi river.
  • Only ten percent of China can be farmed

Shang Dynasty

  • The Shang Dynasty was originated in the Huang He valley.
  • It lasted from 1750 to 1045 B.C.
  • The upper class was made up of warlords and royal offenders
  • Wealth came from land that the aristocrats owned.

Zhou Dynasty

  • The Zhou Dynasty started in 1045 B.C. when Wu Wang led a rebellion against the Shang
  • It lasted more than 800 years
  • The Mandate of Heaven meant that the king was the link to heaven and Earth

Emperor Qin Shihuangdi

  • Emperor Qin Shihuangdi was so powerful because he based all his rules on legilism. He believed in harsh laws and punishments. If you opposed him, you would be killed.
  • He would also burn books that opposed him.
  • He unified China by creating one currency.

The Han Dynasty

  • Liu Bang was a peasant who became a military leader
  • He eventually became emperor of Han
  • There were multiple inventions that came out of this dynasty, such as water wheels, steel, paper, and something called acupuncture
  • Acupuncture is a way to ease pain by sticking a needle in the patients arm.

The Silk Road

  • The Silk Road was a large network of trade routes.
  • This route is extremely dangerous, they had to cross through mountains, deserts, rocky plains, and long plains.
  • Each person who got goods than exchanged them for larger amounts of money each time
