The Yellow Sea has a pretty fun name but many people get it mixed up with the yellow river also known as the Huang He river. The thing is there not the same the yellow river flows into the sea but is not the same thing. The Yellow Sea is called the Yellow Sea because it's yellow. It's yellow because loess flows in from rivers (including the yellow river.). The loess from the rivers came from the Gobi Desert which blows dust that has loess in to the rivers.

The Huang He river is nicknamed the yellow river. It's nicknamed the yellow river because you guessed it its yellow. It's yellow because dust from the Gobi dessert got into the river and the dust is called Loess. It's other nickname China's Sorrow is named that because it floods many homes, crops and kills people and animals so China named it China sorrow.
