THE MECHANICAL CLOCK

HISTORY

• Created by Yi Xing a buddhist monk
• It was created during the Tang dynasty
• Was finished in 725 A.D/C.E
• Chang sso Hsinn changed the water to mercury
• Su song changed the mechanical clock into more sophisticated version of it and became the "ancestor of modern clocks"
• The clock was named "water driven spherical birds eye view map of the heavens"

This machine was mainly made out of bronze. It works by dripping water below a float that is attached to a pole as seen in the image behind. Once the float has reached the top 24 hours have passed.

WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT?

• It was important because...
• It was one of the first clocks ever.
• It Inspired other engineers to, like Su song, to create other versions of the clocks
• Though it wasn't the first way to tell time it was one of the more "simple" ways to tell time.
