CONFUCIANISM

  • Confucianism: A Chinese belief system that Confucius made it teaches right and wrong ideas .

  • " Scholar who thought moral virtues and ethics ."
  • Confucianism is a belief system that people in China used.

DAOISM

  • Daoism- defeats harmony with your inner feelings
  • (Section 1, pg.215)
  • "Began in China in the 500s."
  • Later the Chinese changed Daoism into a new form of Confucianism.

BUDDHISM

  • Buddhism- arigitated from India; Siddhartha Gautama is the Buddha
  • (Section 1, pg. 214)
  • "Teachings of Siddhartha Gautama."
  • After the Han Dynasty fell Buddhism spread to China.

IMPERIAL

  • Imperial- related to an empire
  • (Section 2, pg. 223)
  • "Used ideas that they learned from the Sui Dynasty."
  • To be imperial you have to be related to an empire.

BUREAUCRACY

  • Bureaucracy- a government divided into different departments
  • (Section 2, pg. 224)
  • "Each department was in charge of a specific area."
  • I think it's good to have bureaucracy because everyone has their own job.

GHENGHIS KHAN

  • Genghis Khan- "universal ruler"
  • (Section 3, pg. 233)
  • "Brought back the clans."
  • Ghenghis Khan was a great ruler for China because he brought together the nomad groups.

KUBLAI KHAN

  • Kublai Khan- Ghengis grandson, took power after Kublai Khan died
  • (Section 3, pg. 233)
  • "Ghengis grandson who took over after Kublai Khan."
  • Kublai Khan defeated the Song control and know they ruled all of China.

MONGOL ASCENDANCY

  • Mongol Ascendancy- made trade safer
  • (Section 3, pg. 236)
  • "Period of Mongol Control is known as the Mongol ascendancy."
  • Mongol Ascendancy was a great idea because it made trade safer and more people came to China like Marco Polo.

MARCO POLO

  • Marco Polo- famous European visitor
  • (Section 3, Pg. 236)
  • "Young trader from Venice, Italy"
  • Marco Polo told the rest of the world about China and people didn't really believe him.
