BUDDHISM

ORIGIN AND FOUNDER

• Buddhism began in India
• It was founded by Siddhartha Guatama
• Buddhism incorporated much of Hinduism in its practice

PRINCIPLES

• Desire is the cause of suffering
• Buddhism believes in reincarnation
• They believe they can reach nirvana
• Buddhism does not believe in deity's
• Buddhism is based on the four noble truths

DIFFUSION

• Buddhism began in India
• But it spread to south east and east Asia

CONFUCIANISM

ORIGIN AND FOUNDER

• Confucianism was founded by Kung fu-tzu
• China during the Chou dynasty crime was rampant
• They also spoke of returning to ancient standards

PRINCIPLES

• Their goals are happiness,harmony,and peace
• They have five relationships
• It is like an ethnic code dealing with moral characters
• They think man is capable of doing things through
• education,effort,and reflection

DIFFUSION

• Confucianism started in China
• It spread to the rest of China and Japan

TAOISM

ORIGIN/FOUNDER.

• Grew from China
• Lao Tse was the founder of Taoism
• Philosophies were merged into one teaching
• Sometimes grew in reaction the other religions

PRINCIPLES

• Tao (dao) means the way
• Religion focuses on balanced and harmony with the universe
• Yin yang symbol reflects on harmony and nature
• They emphasize compassion, moderation, and humility

DIFFUSION

• Taoism was started in China
• It grew areas around China
