ORIGINS/FOUNDERS

  • Begin in India
  • The founder is Siddhartha Gautama

PRINCIPLES/BELIEFS

  • Buddhism does not teach the concept of reincarnation
  • Many belief that deity is NOT a religion
  • The Four Nobles Truths and Eightfold Path is the core of Buddhism

DIFFUSSION/SPREAD

  • Started in the Middle East of India
  • Spread to Southeast Asia and to East Asia
  • During the Maurya empire under Ashoka and the Gupta empire where it became very prominent
  • Buddhist teaching was incorporated into Islam

  • China during the Zhou (Chou) dynasty
  • Kung Fu-Tzu is the founder

PRINCIPLES/BELIEFS

  • Tao (Dao) means "The Way"
  • They belief nature is an example of balance
  • Another belief several philosophies and religions
