WHO DISCOVERED

  • Chlorine was first founded in 1774 by Carl Wilhelm Scheele.
  • He didn't know it was an element. Thought it contained oxygen.
  • Sir Humphry Davy confirmed it was an element in 1811.
  • Called it Chlorine from the Greek word 'chloros'.

WHERE IS IT FOUND?

  • Chlorine was first used as a gas in WWI.
  • Used for producing safe drinking water.
  • Can be found on tree frogs as a pain killer.
  • Most likely found in swimming pools.
  • Most is found in cleaning products such as Clorox.
