Choice Theory

In this classroom we are going to move forward with three basic beliefs.

1. We are all internally motivated - we work from the inside out.

2. All behaviour is purposeful - the purpose can only be defined by the actor.

3. We do the best we can to meet our needs with what we know at the time.

We all want people to like us, therefore is what I'm doing bringing us closer or driving us apart?

Meeting our Needs

Our needs are:

• Survival
• Power
• Love and belonging
• Fun
• Freedom

Survival:
our need to survive is our most basic need. We all need to eat, a place to call home, and feel safe and secure.

Power:
Power is not dominating or intimidating others. Power means to perfect a hobby or area of study, strive for personal growth, and work with others cooperatively. It is Respect!

Love and Belonging:
It is our need to feel loved and wanted. It can be achieved by sharing and cooperating with others.

Fun:
The need to entertain ourselves and enjoy life.

Freedom:
The need to have choices and make our own decisions. We are responsible and honest.
