Transmission occurs primarily by drinking water or eating food that has been contaminated by the feces (waste product) of an infected person, including one with no apparent symptoms.

The main symptoms are watery diarrhea, vomiting, cramps,lack of energy, dry mouth,lack of tears, and low urine

The symptoms usually start suddenly, half a day to five days after ingestion of the bacteria.

The diarrhea is described a "rice water" it has a fishy odor

Cholera is not contagious, so you can't catch it from direct contact with another person.

People get cholera from eating or drinking food or water that's been contaminated with the feces (poop) of someone who has cholera.

People who have mild to moderate cases usually get better within a week. Even people with severe cases of cholera recover fully in a week if not they get medical care.

Choleras first origins, within the Indian subcontinent, are believed to have occurred due to the result of poor living conditions.
