The objective of DogWork Presentations is " to show the dog to his best advantage".

* Phrases, choreography's building blocks, link similar intents into parts to organize movement with music. Spectators are appreciative and interested when they understand the objective and how it is organized.

In Levels I & II choreography is crafted to fulfill the definition. Choreography at levels I & II is structured with a beginning, middle and end. The structure should relate to the BPM of the musical choice to support focus on requirements and to fulfill the definition. The rhythmic relationship is expressed artistically in the team's shape enhanced by the music's rhythmic suitability and appropriateness to focus on the team's performance to test training and the resulting relationship. The musicality expresses the ability of the team to successfully mesh movement with music to communicate information to spectators.

FOCUS ON THE DOG
A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DOG'S BPM & THE MUSIC
To maintain focus on the dog the music selected must have the same BPM as the dog's trot. His human partner is more adaptable. To maintain visual focus on the dog and/or the team, the team must be on the same beat. The human adapts to the dog's trot; rhythmically and in length of stride. Now the team has a common rhythm to maintain focus.
Each level score sheet includes a music and choreography area for judgement. In Levels I & II the objective is to show the relationship to the definition using time and space to test the defined objective using movement as a language and a medium to express in a creative and artistic manner what the dog does best.

The Canine Freestyle Federation uses Joan Tennille's original training program, CanineFreestyle DogWork, to prepare teams for Freestyle competitions. The competitive sport of Freestyle developed by Joan and The Federation is based on Joan's definition written as an explanation of the new discipline in the Sport of Dogs in October, 1993
The training program develops dog's technically, artistically and creatively in performance and crafting movement presentations as well as training the dog in a team relationship. There are 4 skills trained in DogWork. All training is team oriented to create the unique team relationship expressed with joy in trained dog work disciplines. The skills are:
1. Technical execution of movement.
2. Performance to express movement artistically as non-verbal communication.
3. Choreography with music to express relationship to test training creatively and artistically.
4. Dog Training,using positive reinforcement. Each presentation is a unique expression of the team's joy to work and train as one.
The training program began with the choreographing of the original four Presentations in August of 1993 and continues as a highly successful program for exhibiters in the sport.

BEGINS WITH THE OPENING SHAPE
Each opening shape invites the spectator to come along, to be with the team as the story of their unique training journey unfolds. As the opening shape evolves and develops the spectator's interest piques. Perceptions of the artistically expressed movements are visual, auditory, mental and kinesthetic; artistically expressed movements may also be experienced emotionally. Movement, as a medium, speak to each spectator differently relative to each spectator's experiences.
