There Are 3 Types Of Worldviews

  • Naturalism
  • Theism
  • Pantheism

Natrualism

  • The belief that all things have a natural causation. There is nothing other than a naturalistic world, which can be tested and verified. There is nothing super natural therefore there is no God. This is where atheism resides as a worldview.

Naturalism Cont...

  • Secular Naturalism is the view that the world and the cosmos are a closed system where all actions and reactions can be understood using the logic of science.

Theism

  • The belief that a God does exist. It is the view that believes that the world is an open system where God can come in and interact with it. How that God has revealed himself to mankind is still up for question. This is where all monotheistic religions are held as a worldview. I.e. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Under Theism:

  • Monotheism is the belief that only one true God exist. This God is highly involved in the cosmos because he created it and in some form or another has revealed himself to mankind.(i.e. the Torah, Quran or the Bible) This worldview doesn’t demand the Christian God but does include Him.
  • Polytheism is the belief that more than one God exist and should be worshipped.

Pantheism

  • The belief that God is in everything. In this view god is the system. God is in everything and all is in what we call God. Simply put God and nature can be the same thing. I.e. Hinduism, Buddhism, new age religions

Pantheism Cont...

  • Pantheism is similar to polytheism (the belief in “poly” many gods) but goes further and explains god as everything. god is an animal, god is a brother and a sister, god is a rock, etc.
  • It is NOT biblical

Is Christianity unique or is it just another “ism”?

  • No, A man named Jesus born in Bethlehem during the reign of Caesar actually lived and around 30AD was crucified by a first century Roman Governor named Pontius Pilate. But this is not where the religion is grounded or even set apart. What makes Christianity especially unique is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus are recorded as eyewitness accounts

Christianity is unique in the fact that it has no absurdities

  • The belief system as a whole answers much of our questions about life, logic, ethics, meaning, origins, destiny and love and happens to remain coherent.

Christ Resurrection As A Historical Event

  • The single most import event in the Christian doctrine is the resurrection. Without it, it is a myth but with it, it is the most powerful, potent message in the world.

Jesus Fulfilled Old Testament Prophecy

  • Christianity is not unique in the fact that it makes prophecy claims but none are one hundred present accurate other than what is in the Christian Bible. Let me explain, the Old Testament was written and finalized about 400 years before Christ was born, yet scriptures in these text prophecy about a man like Jesus.

Conclusion

  • Only in the Christian worldview are our needs, desires, problems, and solutions met. Only in Christianity do we have a man named Jesus who has fulfilled prophecies and performs miracles. Only in Christianity do we have eyewitness’s to the most amazing event in human history (the resurrection) proving his claim to be divine. Christianity is the only form in which the Creator has made himself known.
