Arguements For Gods Existence (Session#4)1

The Teleological Argument

  • The main idea behind this phrase and argument is that it takes an inventor or as apologist call it a “purposer” to have something with a “purpose”

William Paley’s Watch Argument

  • Paley, expresses that when we look at life and the universe it is logical to conclude that there is a designer because of how designed our universe and life is.

Watch Argument Cont...

  • Human objects are products of our intelligence.
  • The universe resembles human objects.
  • Therefore the universe is a product of intelligence.
  • But the scale of the universe is far more complex and colossal in comparison to human objects.
  • Therefore, the Being that intelligently designed our universe is incredible powerful and far more intelligent that we are.

The Kalam Cosmological Argument

  • This cosmological argument is an argument that proves Gods existence from the existence of the world and universe because the existence of a universe stands in need of an explanation.

Kalam Arguement Cont...

  • Everything that has a beginning has a cause for its existence.
  • The universe had a beginning
  • Therefore, the universe has a cause.
  • If the universe has a cause of its existnce it has to be God.
  • Therefore, God exist.

Thomas Aquinas Argument From Motion

  • In his argument, he says things move (his definition of moving is a change of any kind, things are not stagnate. There are variations in temperature; there is life and earth. Etc.) But things do not move (change) on their own will or by their selves. Simply put, things that are moving or are in motion cannot logically be brought into motion by themselves but must be caused to move.

The Moral Arguement

The Moral Arguement

  • This argument shows how a moral lawgiver must exist for objective morals, because with out one all morals are subjective. It is necessary to say that those who don’t believe in a “Moral Law Giver” cannot not be moral; it is to say they have no objective reason to be moral and that their definition of “good moral behavior” is culturally or individually subjective not objectively true

The Structuring Of The Argument

  • For any morally objective standard to exist, God must also exist.
  • Objective morals do exist
  • Therefore, a Moral Law Giver exist. (God)

Moral Relativism

  • A moral philosophy that claims that there is no absolute objective moral law that applies to all people of all times in all places.

The Big Problem

  • There is no room for alturistic behavior in moral relativsm or in a secular worldview because life is all about the survival of yourself.

Moral Absolutism

  • In this worldview, it provides an anchoring for morality and an authority behind it to follow it. Our God, who has revealed His moral nature and will for our lives through scripture and through Jesus Christ. Good flows from Gods nature.

The Truth & Tragedy of Killing God

  • The Moral Relativist, in essence, gives the authority of coming up with a moral law to society, subjugating himself to the framework to imperfect people.
  • The world has examples and consequences of this in the Nazi Regime of Hitler or Russia’s Example of Stalin.
