• His early followers thought he was the Messiah, or messenger, sent by God

• The founder of Christianity was Jesus of Nazareth
• A carpenter who formed a church in his early adulthood
• Was believed to be descended from God or the son of god

• Love your neighbor with all your heart (be nice to people in your community)
• Worship no other god than me (there is only one god and that's the only god they worship)
• Do not murder (don't kill people)
• (Also had 7 other beliefs together called the 10 commandments)
