PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CHRISTANITY

WHERE DID IT COME FROM

  • Christianity grew out of Judaism
  • Based on the birth, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth
  • It originated over 2,000 years ago in Palestine.

FOUNDERS

  • Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, was both fully human and divine
  • He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born from the Virgin Mary
  • His followers believed he was the Messiah sent by God, to save them from slavery, sin & death
  • Jesus performed miracles such as healing the sick, and taught people how God wanted them to live
  • Jesus's message was to love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself

BELIEFS

  • Jesus is God's one and only son
  • Christianity is based on the Holy Trinity: God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit
  • Jesus was crucified to take the punishment for the sins of all God's people
  • Jesus will one day return to judge the living and the dead
  • Eternal life in heaven will be granted to his followers on the day of judgement

WHERE DO PEOPLE WORSHIP THIS FAITH

  • People worship at church or a sanctuary
  • The religious leaders are called priests, pastors, ministers, and preachers
