Christmas is celebrated around the world with many similarities and differences.

is located in Western Europe and borders the Bay of Biscay

In France, they say "Joyeux Noel", which means "Happy Christmas"...

...while in America, we say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays."

The main Christmas dish in France is goose and pat de foie gras...

...however, in the United States, we serve turkey, ham, or chicken.

The French equivalent of Santa is Pere Noel, which means "Father Christmas."

French children leave their shoes by the fireplace mantle to be filled with gifts...

...but in the U.S., we hang and fill stockings instead.

The French Christmas begins on December 6th, The Feast of Fools...

...and ends on January 6th, which is named Epiphany...

...whereas in America we celebrate Christmas on one day: December 25th, Jesus' Birth.

The French leave food out and a fire burning for Baby Jesus and Virgin Mary...

...but in the United States, we leave a plate of cookies and a glass of milk out for Santa.

While both countries of the United States and France sing carols, there songs differ...

...with a popular French carol being "Petit Papa Noel..."

...where a popular American carol is "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
