The people of Ethiopia have their Christmas on January 7, and they call it "Genna".
"Melkam Yelidet Beaal" is the popular way of saying Merry Christmas in Ethiopia, yet some people still say "Poket Kristmet".

Everyone wears a "shamma', for it is a christmas tradition.
It is summer in Ethiopia during Christmas, so traveling is not that difficult and their is no snow.

After Doro wat, a spicy chicken stew, is made, injera, a pancake like bread, is formed to be used as a fork to the stew.
Because Ethiopia is a poor country, there is not a lot of food.

The children there leave Santa delicious coffee, so that (as they believe) he stays awake.
Although not all the children are in a family and have a poor life, they still celebrate the season.

Whenever Christmas day comes, it's spent dancing, sporting, and festing.
In the United States, the traditions are pretty much the same where as in Ethiopia, the traditions are very diverse.

While we as Americans are sleeping, Ethiopians are wide awake as they wait for the special day to start.
