Christopher Columbus

early Life

  • He was born in between August 26 or October 31 1451
  • Nobody is really sure when he was born.
  • He is from Genoa,Italy

His Proposals

  • At first he proposed to the kings of England,France,& Portugal
  • After 10 years King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain agreed 
  • Columbus promised them 10% of all the profits

voyages

  • So he took three ships named:the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria 
  • He reached the Bahamas and thought he was in Asia
  • He then visited Cuba & Hispaniola (Dominican Republic)
  • He started calling them "Indies" because they resembled Indians to him.

Treatment Towards NAtives

  • Columbus treatment towards natives was horrible
  • He enslaved them, even though they were nice.
  • He continued to take their gold and sell them into slavery.
  • He also forced them to convert to Christiantiy

Effects of his journey

  • One of his long term effects he's known as the founder of the "new world"
  • He spread Christiantiy
  • By finding Americas, it helped Europeans to establish colonies
