Born February 12, 1968 in El Segundo, CA.

Walt (Dad), Billie (Mom), Carine (Sister)

Walt and Billie placed importance on material things...

Happiness...only real when shared

The adventure begins...

Chris took his new found beliefs and started living HIS life.

Rather than love, than money, than fame, Give me truth.

  • He donated the remainder of his college fund ($25,000) to Oxfam.
  • He left quietly from home to begin his adventure.
  • He assumed the name Alexander Supertramp.
  • He claimed he no longer had a family.

Chris travelled through various states with his car (which he lost in a flash flood), train, hiking, canoeing, and of course walking.

The challenge to himself was to travel with the least amount of belongings as possible and as little money as possible.

He had no map and no agenda...

...just the will to travel.

His dream

The Alaskan Adventure

He worked odd jobs

for several people he met along the way.

Chris reached his final destination on April 28, 1992 in fairbanks alaska

Four months Later...

...he would perish from a combination of errors.

Chris's body was found in an abandoned old Fairbanks City Transit numbered 142.

He kept a journal along the way and took self portraits now and then.

His final self portrait

He was holding a farewell note...

His body was found by hunters

19 days after he had died.

Walt and Billie did make the trip to BUS 142.

They left a memorial for their son.

Chris may be ridiculed for his actions and lack of preparation for his journey...

...He deserves praise for his courage and spirit for adventure.

Chris lived the life he wanted...

...something most people never do.
