  • The original population was 22,000
  • The current population is 200

Location

  • The original location of the Chumash tribe was near California
  • The Current location is In Santa Barbara

Daily Life

Women/Girls

  • The girls helped and learned from the women
  • The women did all of the cleaning and cooking and sometimes gardening.

Men/Boys

  • The men did the hunting and fishing
  • The boys watched the men and helped themalso.

Clothing

  • The women and girls wore a 2 piece skirt made of deer skin or plant fiber
  • The men and boys wore nothing at all
  • During the winter everybody wore a cape ,add of animal hid if needed

Crafts/Travel

  • The Chumash loved to weave baskets,do rock drawing and build canoes
  • To get around they used the conoes or walked from place to place

  • The sweat house was made up of poles, branches, bulrushes, and cat tails

How to get the food...

  • To get food they hunted and fished
  • They are fish, deer, mussels, clams and abalone
  • During the winter they did store foodd
