  • They are small, usually less than 1,000 feet high.
  • It has steep sides and a cyndrical shape.
  • Built from piles of rock fragments.
  • Are melted volcanic rock that cooled and formed pebble-sized pieces when it was thrown out into the air.

TYPE OF MAGMA

  • rhyolitic

HOW THEY ERUPT

  • They erupt lava, but it flows not from the summit but from a breach in the side or base of the volcano.
  • The lava is ejected from a single vent and accumulate around the vent when they fall back to earth.

REAL WORLD EXAMPLES

  • Italy's Stromboli and paricutin. Kula in Turkey.
