  • Skill saws are the primary cutting tool used on any job site, and with a minimal amount of accessories, it can be adapted to most situations.

  • Types of cuts a skill saw can make: Crosscut: A cut made perpendicular to (across) the grain of the wood. Rip cut: A cut made parallel to (with) the grain of the wood Angle cut: A cut made at any other position than perpendicular or parallel to the edge.

  • A crosscut is a cut made across the grain of a piece of lumber and at a 90 degree angle to the edge. Circular saws are generally classified according to the size of the blade. The most common circular saw is the 7 ¼ inch model.
