THE HEART

  • Pumping oxygenated blood to other body parts.
  • Pumping hormones and other substances to different parts of the body
  • Maintaining high blood pressure

BLOOD VESSELS

  • They distribute blood through out the body . The latter facilitates efficient chemical exchange between tissue and blood
  • Arteries transfer blood away from the heart while veins return blood back toward the heart

Blood
Transports oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues forming blood clots to prevent excess blood loss , carrying cells and antibodies that fight infection

Circulatory system functions
The circulatory system transport oxygen, carbon dioxide to and from the lungs, nutrients around the body. The regulate our body temperature

Systemic circulation
Carries oxygenated blood from the left through the left ventricle through the arteries to the capillaries in the tissues of the body

PULMONARY CIRCULATION

  • Pulmonary is the part of the circulatory system which carries deoxygenated blood away from the right ventricle, to the left lungs and return oxygenated blood to the left atrium and the ventricle of the heart

Cardiac output
This is the volume of blood the heart beats per minute .
Stroke volume is the volume of blood pumped out of the left ventricle during each systrolic cardiac contraction

Effects of exercise on the heart long and short term
Long term-the consistent and ongoing increase in heart rate, elevated levels of stress hormone and blood pressure. This increases heart attack and stroke

Short term
Increase in oxygen uptake and increase in carbon dioxide removal ,increase in heart rate and in cardiac output
