WHY IT HAPPENED

• The Cival War started
• in 1861 when some
• southern states declared
• their secession and formed
• the Confederacy states of America.

• The reason the Confederacy
• States broke off was beacouse
• of slavery. The Union, or
• states that wanted to stay
• did not like slavery but the South did.

WAR

• The Confederacy was lead
• by General Robert E. Lee,
• and the Union was lead by
• General Ulysses S. Grant

THE RESULT

• Eventually, after four years
• of war and combat the
• Confederacy collapsed,
• meaning all slaves must be
• set free.

SOUTHERN ECONOMY

• Based on cash crops
• Mostly sugar cane, tobacco,
• And cotton.
• Manufacturing based on
• Slavery.

NORTHERN ECONOMY

• Based of Factories and
• Industry. Able to make
• Weapons and other goods.
• They also had railroad
• Networks to transport goods

EMANCIPATION PROCLIMATION

• Was issued by Abe. Lincon
• and was to free all slaves
• In the confederate part of
• America.
• Was in 1863 during the cival war
