The Civil Rights Act of 1968 defines housing discrimination as the “refusal to sell or rent to any person because of his race, color, religion, or national origin”

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the civil rights act of 1968 into law on April 11, 1968.

Segregation
the action or state of setting someone or something apart from other people or things or being set apart.

Civil Rights Act of 1964, the bill was the subject of a contentious debate in the Senate, but was passed quickly by the House of Representatives in the days after the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

TYPES OF BANNED DISCRIMINATION

  • Refusal to sell or rent a dwelling to any person because of race, color, religion or national origin.
  • Discrimination against a person in the terms, conditions or privilege of the sale or rental of a dwelling.
  • Advertising the sale or rental of discrimination based on race, color, religion or origin
