WHEN IT STARTED

GOAL OF CCC

• Two accomplishments
• The salvage of our young men
• Conservation of our natural recources

THE START OF Ccc

• 25% of population was unemployed, hungry, and without hope
• This was because of the Great Depression when FDR was inaugurated in March
• To help, people created the work relief program to young mean ages 18-23

AFFECTS/BENIFITS

• Roosevelt proposed to recruit thousands of unemployed young men
• He enlisted them in a peacetime army, and sent them to battle the erosion
• This gave men many more job opportunities.

SUCCESS

• The Civilian Conservation Corps was a great success
• Men worked hard to accomplish a lot
• More than 3,470 fire towers erected
• 97,000 miles of fire roads were built
• 4,235,000 man-days devoted to fighting fires
• More than 3 billion trees were planted

TODAY

• The Civilian Conservation Act is not going on today
• Due to the end of unemployment, the CCC is no longer needed
