PURPOSE OF CCC

  • Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a public work relief program that operated from 1933 to 1942
  • In the United States for unemployed, unmarried men from relief families, ages 18–25 as part of the New Deal.

WHO DID IT AFFECT

  • Young men
  • Families without work
  • improved physical condition, heightened morale,
  • and increased employability
  • People had jobs and work to do for money

WAS IT SUCCESSFUL?

  • One of most successful of new deal programs
  • Beneficial for the unemployed
  • Employed 2.9 million men

IS IT STILL AROUND?

  • No it ended it 1942
  • Did not give a fair share of work to blacks
