CHARACTERISTICS

  • Temperature in summer - 65 to 85 degrees F
  • Near 100 degrees can occur but rare
  • Temperature in winter - 35 to 55 degrees F
  • Extreme cold is less common
  • Precipitation is 20 to 80 inches per year, depends on location

SEMIARID

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Temp. in summer 85 - 95 degrees F, but can exceed 100 F.
  • Temp. in winter 25 - 40 degrees F, can get very cold
  • Precipitation 5 to 20 inches per year, depends on location
  • Rain falls infrequently, with snow in the winter

HIGHLAND

FOUND AT ELEVATIONS OVER 3,000 ABOVE SEA LEVEL

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Summers are cool and short
  • Winters are long and cold
  • Temperature colder at higher elevations
  • Precip. falls mainly as snow
  • Can stay year round at the highest mountain peaks
