Select a passage from a book or story that the students have already read.
The first sentence rewritten exactly as it was in the book or story.
For the second sentence choose one of the first five words and replace it with a blank.
Do so with every fifth word in the passage.
Complete the cloze activity.
Students will read the passage to themselves, using context clues to fill in the blanks.
