Set out for the fertile land of Oregon in them1840s.
They had extreme hardships like leaving there families and never seeing them again.
The Journey took over 6 months.

The railroads brought Chinese workers.
They produce over 70 kinds of fruits and nuts.
Grapes are a very important fruit grown there.

FRUITS AND NUTS
Oregon is known for fruits and nuts.
Apples were first planted in Vancouver.
Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries and Sweet cherries were also grown.

APLETS, COTLETS
Turkish delight is made by Armenian Immigrants that had trouble selling Apples.
These fruits are marketed all over the United States.
The combinations of the fruits and nuts have increased.

POTATOES
Idaho has more potatoes than any other state.
Potatoes are indigenous to Peru.
Potatoes are the main starchy vegetable in Germany.

LENTILS
Popular in the Middle East.
USA's lentils are grown in Idaho.
Nutritionists are encouraging Americans to eat Lentils.

SPAM
Spam is manufactured in Austin, Minnesota.
It is very popular in Hawaii.
It does not require refrigeration because it is a canned product.

COFFEE AND MACADAMIA NUTS
They are grown on big island.
Hawaii is the only state that grows coffee.

PINEAPPLE
Pineapples are shipped to the mainland from Hawaii.
Dole Plantations is a popular tourist stop.

SUGARCANE
It is the main agricultural of Hawaii.

POI
It is a starchy Hawaiian food.
You eat it with fingers out of a bowl.
14.
POG
Stands for Pineapple, Orange and a Guava.
Fruit drinks are called Pogs.
They are well liked in Hawaii.
15.
LUAU
There centerpiece is a whole pig.
The meal is joined by dancing and singing.
