GRACE HENDRICKS AND ANNA BROOKS

What is it?
Child of a deaf adult is an acronym for "CODA". It's a child who is raised by one or two deaf parents.

When does it happen?
CODA happens all the time to families around the world with at least one deaf parent.

THREE FACTS
1.) Millie Brothercoined the term and founded the organization CODA, which is a resource for children of deaf adults

2.) CODA teaches the children ASL to be able to communicate with their parents

3.) 90% of deaf parents have hearing children

HOW IS THIS RELATED TO ASL?
Often times CODA has a special place among deaf people. This is because they are hearing, but there first language is ASL so they can hear, but they are just as fluent as a deaf person. CODA used to help deaf people communicate when there is no technology or intererators.
