  • Interpret nonverbal cues
  • Work independently

Cognitive Strategies

  • Provide stimulating home environments
  • Work together on projects
  • Talk to students about their day
  • Talk to students their goals
  • Allow students to enhance learning through monitored technology
  • Read with your child

Affective Traits

  • Highly developed sense of humor
  • Perfectionist
  • Evaluate and judge others
  • Concerned with ethics

Affective Strategies

  • Be accepting of accomplishments as well as failures
  • Help with assignments
  • Allow social interactions with peers
  • Calming homework environment
  • Try relaxation techniques when feeling stressed
  • Allow for exploration of "off the wall" ideas
  • Communicate openly
