THE BEGINNING

  • The Cold War began after WW2.
  • The USSR and United States gained interests with their own growth after the war.
  • The conflict came from the two nations wanting to achieve their political and economic goals.
  • The US has a democracy while the USSR is communist.
  • The name came due to the fact that there were no physical confrontations.

ECONOMIC SYSTEMS

  • The US has a free enterprise economy.
  • This means the people and private business are in charge of their money.
  • The USSR is a communist state meaning the government is in charge of the money.
  • The people are not well represented.

US FORGIN POLICY

  • The USSR supported wars of national liberation or colonial revolution.
  • Mainly against the United States and it's allies.

KITCHEN DEBATE

  • This debate was between Nixon and Krushchev
  • It showed the conflict between the two nations.
  • It also portrayed the different beliefs of the two countries and how it could lead to conflict.
