How it started:
The Soviet Union wanted to spread democracy, while the U.S wanted to spread democracy, this lead to tension between the two.
It was called the Cold War because there wasn't any actual fighting, just threats and sneaking around.

Differences between communism and capitalism:

  • Capitalism requires growth on private enterprises
  • Communism: the state takes over the economy
  • Communism is common ownership, meaning things are shared
  • Capitalism means that you can have a private enterprise

U.S Foreign Policy:
The Soviet Union formed two counterstrategies support war or colonial revolution and attainment of military parity with the U.S

The debate between Nixon and Krushchev represented the tension between the Soviet Union and the United States and made the relations between the two nations every more stressed.
