Collaboration Tools for Learning

This session will include six different collaboration Tools you can use to embed into everyday practice.

The focus of these tools will be:-

- Relatively easy to learn (no steep learning curve)
- Free (although some adopt a 'freemium' model - you can pay and get extra features if you want)
- Accessible on mobile devices, so can be used with tablets via apps, etc.
- They add FUN to learning!

Workshop Title and Abstract:

Collaboration Tools for Learning

This workshop provides attendees with an overview of a variety of ‘quick win’ collaboration tools that can be embedded into everyday practice to create a more blended approach to learning. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mobile devices/laptops to the session in order to participate and explore these tools in more depth. Links to the resources and the presentation will be made available.

Haiku Deck

Presentation software that allows you to save your presentations to the cloud so they can easily be shared with colleagues.

Alternative to Powerpoint and follows the presentation mantra of small amounts of text with large amounts of images with the presenter filling the gaps with the narration.

Links with Flickr to ensure all images used in presentations are under a Creative Commons licence. Suggests appropriate images for you based on keywords (click on the cc image in the top left to demo this feature).

Haiku Deck is available as an award-winning app for iPad and iPad mini, and as a web app that works with the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, or Firefox (not yet available on Android).

There are various methods of sharing your ‘Decks’. This can be via social media, email, obtaining an embed code to add to blogs and VLE pages or just by a link.

All Haiku Decks created using the free account are public.

You can export the Haiku Deck to PDF and PPT (but this is a PRO feature).
