CLOTHING:
The women's clothing is very stylish. They wear very colorful dresses with very unique designs. The women also wear sombreros.
The men's clothing are very typical. They wear plain pants with a pair of boots and a long-sleeved shirt with a pañuelo, which is like a handkerchief but much bigger. The men also wear a sombrero.
These styles of clothing came from the Spanish in Spain. The people usually wear this type of clothing for festivals or any type of party.
FOOD:
Colombians love to eat meat whether they live in the middle of the country or in the coastal areas. The national dish for Colombians is Bandeja Paisa. It is a huge mixture of food that takes up a lot more than one plate. It has grilled steak, fried pork rind, chorizo sausages, rice, red beans, with a fried egg, and a slide of sliced avocado and sweet banana chips. Arroz Con Coco is favored to be the countries best desert. It is coconut rice pudding and it is made with lemon zest and cinnamon.
HOLIDAYS:
Colombia is a Catholic country so they celebrate the religious holidays the most. During Easter, people lift Jesus Christ carrying the cross each day of Holy Week. They walk around with this statue for two kilometers around the capital city.
On Christmas, the people start celebrating on December 7 until December 25. They have feasts, they pray the rosary, and they sing Spanish Christmas songs. On Christmas morning, at 12:00 AM, baby Jesus delivers all the kids' presents.
RELIGION:
Catholicism is the main religion in Colombia. The people are mostly Catholics. 90% of Colombians are Roman Catholic. Mormons, evangelicals, and Protestants are the only groups with a different religion in Colombia.
SPORTS:
Soccer, also called fútbol, is the main sport in Colombia. It is the countries national sport and is the only sport that grabs the full attention of Colombians.
Another popular sport in Colombia is cycling. It is popular because people love to bike around the beautiful country of Colombia.
ANIMALS:
Colombia has very fascinating animals. Colombia has more vertebrate species than any other country on Earth. About 10% of all Earth's species are found in Colombia, and Colombia also has the most bird, amphibian, and butterfly speies. Most of these animals are located in the Amazon rainforest.
EDUCATION:
Colombia has a primary and a secondary school. Private schools instruct Spanish, English, German, and French, but it is very expensive so most Colombians go to a public school which instructs Spanish.
Primary school is for 6-12 year olds and secondary school is for 12-16 year olds. After primary and secondary school, they go to the University. It takes five years to graduate the University.
