PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Reasons Founded
The Virginia colony was set up so the Virginia Company would be profitable, by buying produce cheap from Virginia, then selling it at steep prices in England.
Who settled here?
On May 14, 1607, a group of roughly 100 members of a joint stock called the Virginia Company settled here.
Climate and Geography
They have very hot and humid summers, and mild winters. The good soil and plentiful rain made Virginia a great place for farming. There where a lot of bays where ports could be made for trade. In the western part of the colony, the mountains and heavy woods made it hard to make big farms, so they were small, self-sufficient farms.
Economy
They didn't find any gold in Virginia. They mainly had large plantations growing Cash-Crops
Politics
the colonists came to resent their obligations to the crown, and began to move toward independence.
