DELAWARE

Peter Minuit and the New Sweden Company founded it. They founded it in the year 1638. He formed it as a part of New Netherland.

The two main reasons for the founding of the Delaware colony were trade and agriculture. The soil was very fertile was the main motivation for agriculture. It had thriving forests for manufacturing and lumber.

The people who settled there were mostly white. At first, it was an all white colony, but eventually they took on slaves. Although, the slave percentage in the population was less than 2%.

Nearly all of Delaware is on the water. It has over 50 freshwater lakes and ponds. the climate isn't very cold. in winters it is just below 74 degrees and summers are usually above 80 degrees.

They had a thriving economy because farmers produced surpluses of wheat, barley, and rye. They also had really fertile soil and produced a large amount of iron.

The predominant religion in Delaware was Protestant. That being said, they also allowed many other religions to be practiced freely.

Delaware shared a government system with Pennsylvania which was called a constitutional anarchy. It was based on a democratic rule.
