FOUNDERS OF THE COLONY
The South Carolina colony was founded by King Charles II in 1663.
He gave the land to eight noble men, or known as the Lord Proprietors.
North Carolina and South Carolina were founded together and they split later on.

REASONS FOUNDED
This was founded for farming and trading.
People were also tired of religious rules, so they came to live their own religion.
Also, proprietors wanted to raise money buy selling land in the colonies.

PEOPLE IN THE COLONY
The majority of the population was African Americans when more cotton plantations came in.
Many people that came from different countries came to the colony.
Also a wide range of people with different religions lived in South Carolina.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY
The climate in the South Carolina Colony was usually warm.
The winters were not hard to survive.
The warm, humid summers made it easire for diseases to spread.
The warm climate made it easier to grow crops.

ECONOMY IN THE COLONY
The South Carolina Colony concentrated on agriculture.
They made different kinds of plantations.
They grew tobacco, rice, cotton, and indigo.

RELIGION
The South Carolina colony was not mainly one religion.
Jews, Quakers, Bapitist, and other religions lived in the colony.
Catholics were prohibited to practice their religion until after the American Revolution
8.
POLITICS
South Carolina was a Royal Colony.
A Royal Colony is ruled by a governor and a council.
It also had a represenitive assembly that was chosen by the people.
