TRIANGULAR TRADE

  • A system of trade where New Englanders made and shipped rum
  • to west coast of Africa in exchange for slaves. Then the slaves
  • were sent to the West Indies in exchange for molasses and
  • money. Molasses was sent back to England to make
  • rum. And the system began again.

HOW DID IT AFFECT COLONISTS

  • It affected them by letting them get
  • slaves, rum, and money. It also
  • helped them have a trade route.

  • It was a period of revivalism in the 1730s-1740s.
  • It deemphasized the importance of church and doctrine
  • but helped put more importance on the individual
  • and spiritual experience.
