HISTORY

• This was the third flight for the "Columbia" spacecraft
• During its last two flights pieces of foam fell off
• It was due to be decommissioned later that week

WHEN?

• February,1 2003

WHAT HAPPENED?

• A piece of foam struck the wing and cause a hole
• In a wing fuel tank and the hull

DID ANYONE SURVIVE?

• No but again the explosion did not kill them the force
• Of hitting the ground kill those who had not died from the g force
• Normal g's- 1
• Columbia g's - 9 that is enough to knock you out then break your neck

WHERE?

• Texas and Louisiana never landed
• Was going 2.46 Mach
