COMMUNITY PROJECT

A LITTLE INFO...

• My neighborhood is considered VERY small and SUPER quiet.
• With only about 14 homes in my neighborhood, we all know one another.
• Therefore, looking out for each other happens on a daily basis. :)
• After my parents moved to Virginia from Pennsylvania, I was born and have lived here for all 15 years of my life.

Over the course of 15 years, I have grown and built long lasting friendships...

There are not generally many complaints about my neighborhood. However, Dave (one of my interviewees) expressed that the time it takes to get in and out of our neighborhood is way too long and that would be his one major change.

A MAJOR PROBLEM IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IS THE AMOUNT OF FLOODING WE RECEIVE DURING POWERFUL STORMS...LIKE THE RECENT HURRICANE MATTHEW.

Each one of my interviewees agree that they like the quiet and peaceful feeling of our neighborhood/community and how we support each other.

- Overall, every single interviewee sees our neighborhood/community as completely safe. David (my interviewee that has lived here less than 2 years) said, "From 1-10 I give it a 10, super safe, safer than VA Beach."

NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS :

• OUR COMMUNITY WAS PURE COUNTRYSIDE BEFORE ALL OF THESE NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS STARTED POPPING UP.
• EVERY INTERVIEWEE VIEWS THESE DEVELOPMENTS AS A DISTURBANCE
• AS JESSICA (ANOTHER INTERVIEWEE) STATED, "THEY ARE TAKING NATURE AWAY."

Living here my whole life has given me a chance to really get to know my community and the people in it. I am thankful for every single person I had the privilege of meeting and have yet to meet in my community :)
